Communication Studies Week: Spring Colloquium with Dr. Stacy Holman Jones
Always Strange and Strangely Familiar: Changing Our Words and Worlds Using the Power of Theory and Storytelling
The Communication Studie Graduate Student Association (CSGSA) and the Communication Studies Graduate Department of UNC-Charlotte are proud to announce Dr. Stacy Holman Jones as this year’s colloquium speaker. Dr. Holman Jones will discuss the integration of theory and personal storytelling in scholarship with a focus on the integration of queer theory and queer storytelling as a demonstration of that work.
The Colloquium Presentation will be held on the UNC-C campus at theSAC (Student Activity Center): SALONS A & B on APRIL 21, 2014 from 10:00am–12:00pm, followed by light refreshments in the outside lobby.
The Roundtable Discussion will be held in COLVARD 5090 on APRIL 21, 2014 from 6:00pm–8:00pm. Attendees should bring an autoethnographic paper they are working on or have written, or a published autoethnographic paper that interests them. Attendees should also bring a few excerpts from texts as a sample of a particular theoretical work that interests them. A PDF copy of the introduction to Dr. Holman Jones book, The Handbook of Autoethnography, will be available for attendees. Dinner with Dr. Holman Jones will be held at CIROS RESTAURANT on APRIL 21, 2014 from 8:30pm–10:00pm. Please RSVP to Meghan Snider or Rachael Thomas by April 15 so we can make reservations.
